Oprah has officially crossed the line. When I had last checked on Friday, the coolest guy ever to find the internet, Zach Anner, had well over 9 million votes. When the top five finalists who get to go on to the next round were announced, the crazy-Oprah magic had conveniently bumped him down to 3.5 million. The contest should have never been in existence (or in this format) if she didn’t want the involvement of the Interwebs. I’m calling shenanigans.

Brandon Boyd - Runaway Train

Incubus will always remain an old favorite of mine. They’ve been a large creative influence on my musical talents. I was kind of caught of guard by their lead singer, Brandon Boyd, releasing a solo project today. From what I’ve heard, it’s solid in terms of vocals. He’s always going to deliver in that category. It still pales in comparison to anything infused with the brilliance of Mike Einziger’s guitar and song-writing skills.

Diego Stocco, of Music From A Tree fame, was searching for a way to put the keyboard from a dismantled piano kept in his garden as a lawn ornament to good use, so he did what anyone who found themselves in a similar situation would do: He created a new instrument called the “Bassoforte” by fusing the keyboard with a broken electric bass, guitar pickups, a chimney cap, and a cabinet handle.
