My story starts out just like any other. I was born a poor, black child in the hills of Kentucky. Somehow, I grew up to become a young man with obsessions for the obscure and ridiculous while trying to live my life on a daily basis for something beyond my own self-absorption. I could say that I one day I hope to turn this into a nexus for my fame and glory found on the Internet, which will in turn be used for my running for President and subsequently appointing Jay-Z as the nation’s poet laureate. But in all seriousness, I’m just doing what I know how to do and hopefully a lot more. I was worried that it was just going to be Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg rehashing their work from the amazing <em>Band of Brothers</em>, but I found the first episode of this to be great.</p> <p>For those unaware, <em>The Pacific</em> follows three marines in the Pacific theater of World War II. There is definitely a different feel to the show due to the environment. You see the huge distinction of the fighting styles differing from the trench warfare of WWII Europe and the brief fight in the premiere episode is intense.</p> <p>And although it is the first episode, I really hope that this series is as much about the characters as <em>Band of Brothers</em> was.
